Welcome to the February fishing forecast for Beaufort, SC. You’ll still deal with cold mornings, but February usually brings more stable winter weather. Overall it’s easier to predict what’s happening on the water this month.
Weather & Conditions Forecast: What to Expect
Expected Air Temp: 40–60°F
Expected Water Temp: 45–55°F
Cold fronts are still possible, but not as harsh as in January. Water clarity is still very good just like last month, which makes targeting fish a lot easier. February usually has more consistent weather overall, so the fishing tends to be more predictable. Late morning is still generally the best time to fish right now. Fish are more active once the sun gets higher and warms things up a bit, so don’t stress about launching super early.
Fish Behavior: Who’s Showing Up in the Beaufort, SC Waters?
Redfish are still the main focus this month. They continue to school up in large groups thanks to the cold water.
Fly Fishing & Spin Fishing Forecast
For fly fishing, white and chartreuse patterns are the most productive. Small flies with subtle strips work best in this clear winter water.
For spin fishing, smaller baits are key. I’ve been using the Z-Man Slim SwimZ, which is one of my favorite lures to use this time of year. Keep presentations light and slow to match the fish’s behavior in the colder, clear water.
January Challenge: Fewer False Casts = More Fish
This month’s challenge is all about improving efficiency. Focus on reducing false casts and getting the fly to the fish faster and more accurately. The fewer false casts you make, the more chances you have to catch fish.
