Welcome to your latest October 2025 Beaufort, SC Fishing Report: Recap!
October brought some nice changes to the Lowcountry. Air temps stayed between 60–80°F, getting cooler as the month went on, and water temps held between 70–80°F. The cooler weather helped clear up the water, which made it easier to spot and catch fish throughout the tides with fewer lull periods. Flood tides stayed productive, but this was the last month to have consistently good flood tide fishing before the seasonal shift. Redfish stayed active all day with the cooler weather, making both fly and spin fishing solid no matter the tide.
For fly fishing, black flies continued to work great. Because the redfish were in a steady feeding mode, fly color and type didn’t matter as much- it was more important to get the fly in front of the fish before they saw the boat.

On the spin and family side, the bull redfish started moving offshore and nearshore as water temps dropped, and sharks began their migration south. Once the water dips below 70°F, the sharks will be gone for good.
The highlight of the month was catching a 60-inch, 80-pound tarpon at 4 a.m. during the Port Royal Sound Foundation Inshore Tournament. The tournament focuses on collecting data and research on local inshore species. Check them out to learn more: Port Royal Sound Foundation
