Black flies continued to produce reliably, especially in stained or low-light conditions. Evening flood tides were gold—on the right water, you could get 10+ quality sight-fishing shots at tailing redfish per tide cycle. With constant aggressive eats, it was a great time to be on the bow.

Light Tackle Update

Light tackle action was steady throughout May. Mornings brought explosive topwater strikes, while sharks kept things interesting all day long—especially for those targeting them on smaller setups.

With more bait in the water and temperatures climbing, fish are getting more aggressive, and patterns are starting to shift toward those classic warm-weather rhythms. It’s only going to get better from here.
