February 2026 Beaufort, SC Fishing Report: Recap

Beaufort SC Fishing Charters

February ended up being a pretty good month overall. The weather was surprisingly nice compared to what you might expect in winter. Average air temperatures stayed between 45–60°F, and water temperatures were around 50–60°F. We only had one short cold front that lasted about a day before temperatures bounced back. Compared to January, the weather felt much more stable, with cooler mornings and warmer afternoons. That consistency in the weather made the fishing more consistent as well.

Fishing Behavior

The fish were still grouped together in large schools throughout the month. I found that higher tide around midday was my favorite time to target them. Most of what we were catching were redfish, with the occasional trout mixed in by accident.

The most memorable catch happened while we were casting into a school of around 150–200 redfish. We were working the fly through the school when we ended up hooking a trout that measured over 20 inches on fly, which was a bit unexpected considering we were targeting redfish.
